b. 1973, Los Angeles, California
I am a visual artist and designer working across a number of media, including sculpting, painting and photography. I am the mother of two grown children and currently work out of my studio in Los Angeles.
Through my background in interior design, styling, product design and print making. I have always been drawn to interiors and architecture, honoring the era and lines of a space to create cohesive and thoughtful interiors. My work has been formed through many of my artistic endeavors over the past 3 decades and has helped to shape my new Collection, focusing on the conceptual interaction between texture, depth, form and fluid movement, with an organic and thoughtful approach. My goal is to maintain a cohesive Collection within the layers and depth, and to create strength and sophistication within the form of each sculpture.
Relique, my new Collection of bespoke plaster reliefs was created from my love and deep appreciation for antiques, architecture & salvaged relics. Unlike creating a master mold, each sculpture is individually sculpted and pressed with natural and collected objects, leaving behind beautiful impressions and preserving their details in a permanent form. They are cast as a one off, truly making them one of a kind. I spent many months testing various plasters and choosing one that is far superior to standard POP, as well as to formulate a technique to create the fragmented and “torn” edges. Every indention, fold & groove are marks created from my hands forming and sculpting the clay prior to casting. They are marks that show the handcrafted nature which I’ve chosen not to smooth out, but to preserve in each sculpture, I feel that is what makes them evoke a sense of emotion and exudes the presence of a collected treasure, reminiscent of an ancient relic, worn and weathered over time.
